Gamma Squad is a unit of special Advanced Recon Commandos.
Gamma was born at the start of the Clone Wars as one of the first of five ARC squads. The ARCs have since shrunk in number, and now the only two squads left are Delta and Gamma.
Gamma originally consisted of four clones. Frag, Lefty, Quark and Sol. Over time, the ARCs fell in battle or were reassigned, and now Gamma consists of three ARCs alone. Sol, the commander, Stratos, the heavy weapons specialist, and Cross, the demolitions expert.
Gamma Squad, being one of the oldest, has a reuputation amongst the clones and their superiors. They are renowned for being swift, effective and efficient. They are also renowned for causing the most amount of damage possible, and for their missions never going quite the way they should. They are perhaps the best, and the unluckiest ARCs alive.
After a mission on the alien moon of Kem went awry, Gamma was forced to adapt to the landscape. They returned to the Reverence wearing skins of the wild tech-eating cats of the strange moon, their armour painted with the cat’s blood. The skins were a gift from the Kemmar, strange small lizard-like people that reside on the moon. Although the blood itself long since washed off, Gamma kept the intimidating tribal markings on their armour as a symbol of good luck.
Gamma’s crowning achievement thus far was when they located the hidden Count Dooku, long on the run from the Republic forces. They were hunting down owners of the original blueprints for the Elite Battle Droids on the red forgeworld of Mu Bin. They trapped one of their targets, seperatist-aligned aqualish politician Trak Qos, in his apartment building’s parking garage. Having cleverly vented the atmosphere in the building, Qos, in his final moments, transmitted the blueprints to Dooku himself. The transmission was tracked, and thus the Republic knew the Count’s whereabouts. A huge victory for the Republic.
